APT – Augmented Psychotherapy Training

Do you want to train as a psychedelic therapist or co-therapist? This three-year training provides you with the knowledge and skills you need to practice in a legal, safe, and evidence-based framework.

The APT – Augmented Psychotherapy Training is an advanced training course for medical doctors, psychotherapists, and complementary mental health professionals. Renowned therapists and researchers from European and international institutions have joined up with the MIND/OVID team to create this high-quality curriculum.
The training provides you with knowledge and skills you can apply in your therapeutic work immediately. Even before the future approval of psilocybin, MDMA, and other psychedelics as medication for augmented psychotherapy.

The APT curriculum builds on a cross-school approach. It is grounded in six layers of theoretical foundation:

(1) GENERAL PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC MODES OF ACTION
(2) THEORIES & METHODS OF PSYCHEDELIC-AUGMENTED PSYCHOTHERAPY
(3) RELEVANT ASPECTS OF SPECIFIC MENTAL DISORDERS FOR PSYCHEDELIC-AUGMENTED PSYCHOTHERAPY
(4) EXISTENTIAL DIMENSIONS OF PSYCHEDELIC EXPERIENCES (PHILOSOPHY AND SPIRITUALITIES)
(5) THERAPIST PERSONALITY, SELF-DEVELOPMENT, AND ETHICS
(6) WORKING IN THERAPEUTIC TEAMS AND NETWORKS

The program includes a profound self-experience component. Non-pharmacological and pharmacological methods like breathwork and medically supervised ketamine sessions are provided. Furthermore, we work towards permission to offer legal psilocybin experiences in the framework of a training study.
Part of the APT approach is continuous mentoring by experienced clinicians and interactive learning through the involvement of patient actors and role play in the context of case work. We equip participants with the required scientific knowledge and insights into relevant current clinical and scientific developments. Some of the leading experts in psychedelic research and therapy are involved in providing this training program (in the advisory board, as external speakers, and as mentors).

Researchers have debated for decades over the relationship between hallucinogens and rock art. Ancient cultures around the world have left an intriguing legacy of abstract, even psychedelic-looking images on cliff faces and cave walls, but modern researchers argue over the motivation behind the creation of such artworks.

Until now there has been no physical evidence of the use of hallucinogens at rock art sites. But a surprising discovery at a site in southern California now provides proof that at least some people experienced the site in an altered state of consciousness centuries ago....
