Psilocybe cyanescens Indoor
Verfasst: 19. Apr 2023, 00:14

*Edit 04/08/23 Fantastic fifth flush currently pinning*
In mid February 2022 I sourced 500g of Ps Cyanescens grain spawn from the Netherlands.
Upon receiving this spawn I did a few g2g oat jars and the rest of the spawn was mixed with fermented beech, pet litter, wood chips in a shoe box
Through March - May 22
I continued to expand the Cyanescens wood chips moving from shoe boxes to 32 ltr tubs.
Towards the end of June I mixed the colonised wood chips with a sub mix consisting of….
1:1:1 mix of
fermented beech wood chips
fermented hemp chips
garden compost
into 60 ltr fabric grow bags @ approx 1:2 spawn : sub mix
The grow bags were kept moist in my basement garage during our hottest summer on record, temps were hitting 40°C +
In early September the temps dropped and fall rains began and I set the grow bags outside.
I cased them using garden straw and or cherry leafs.
2 weeks later summer temps returned until the beginning of November
November 9th 1st pins spotted at which point our, false fall, Indian summer ended as temps plummeted and heavy frosts of -7° were forecast
I was concerned that the heavy frosts and low temps would kill my pinset and as such moved the grow bags back into my basement garage, for protection and a few days later into a well lit, cool room in my home. The grow bags have remained inside since then.
I’ve not fussed over these growbags and for the most part, all I’ve done since mixing the colonised wood chips with the sub mix, is to have kept them moist, using tap water a watering can and misting using a small spray bottle.
As of April 2023
2 grow bags have fruited 3 times, 1 is in its fourth flush and 1 bag is currently pinning for the fifth time.
Mycelium Expansion project:
During the summer and fall it became apparent that the Cyanescens mycelium was growing through the fabric bags and attempting to colonise whatever the bags were happening to be sitting on.
As such I decided to take advantage of this and placed the grow bags upon a bed of fermented beech chips.
Primarily I did this to get a jump start on mycelium expansion to start some outdoor beds in 2023.
When I moved the grow bags inside a good 2” of colonised wood chip was firmly attached to the bottom of all of the grow bags.
I also got approx 16 ltrs of wood chips from this temporary makeshift outdoor bed that have now been expanded to approx 36 litres in two tubs.
These two 32ltr tubs will soon be expanded to 4 32ltr tubs.
I also decided to add a bed of fermented wood chips to the runoff trays that my grow bags have been sitting in.
The mycelium is expanding much quicker than I’d envisaged
I’ve cloned some of the larger fruits to cardboard in ziplock bags
Max Min temps have been 20° C in the midday sun and lows of 6° C.
